You can come to us for custom-made advice about restoring works. Whether it’s about cleaning the work or repairing damage, we’re ready to advise you.
Cleaning a painting
Cleaning paintings is the most common type of restoration. Paintings need to be cleaned regularly as the varnish layer becomes dirty over the years. During the restoration process the old, yellowing layer of varnish will be (partially) removed using a solvent. A new layer of varnish will then be expertly applied to the work. This process is shown in the photograph on the right: before, during and after the restoration.
*We do not value any works based on photographs that are sent to us.
